Founded in 1985 by engineers and brothers, Gary and Steve Quirke, CFS became one of the UK’s leading independent providers of fire and security services. Their mission was to deliver a flexible, adaptable service with a culture of speedy decision-making that really made them stand out from the crowd.

Over the next 35 years, CFS went from strength to strength thanks to their ongoing commitment to achieving sustainable growth based on genuine partnerships with staff, customers and suppliers. To ensure this growth was sustained, CFS continued to foster a culture of trust and family values, striving for excellence and depending on the integrity and ability of staff to ensure CFS was able to achieve as a business.

In 2017 the continued success of CFS brought it to the attention of the Global brand of Stanley Black & Decker and, in particular, the STANLEY Security division. Specialising in providing fire and security systems across the UK and Ireland, STANLEY Security was looking for partners to strengthen its Fire Solutions business, locally and nationally, and CFS was a natural fit. CFS was finally acquired by STANLEY Security in 2018, and following a period of consolidation and reflection, CFS is now ready to begin the next exciting step in its development.

CFS is now a fully owned company of STANLEY Security and has become part of the STANLEY family.  The advantage for CFS clients is that as the UK Fire and Security Markets overlap and converge, they will have easy access to the global brands and products offered by STANLEY Security ensuring access to the latest products and continued local support. Existing and future customers of CFS benefit from having access to a local brand with national reach through the STANLEY Security products and service teams.

For STANLEY, the acquisition represents a positive move to strengthen its brand in the increasingly high-tech fire detection and suppression market and demonstrates its commitment to providing a globally recognised brand, with a truly local service and a national reach.

Over the years CFS has moved from being a major player in extinguishers to being all about systems and solutions, and it is our intention to continue this development so that CFS can strengthen the offering further in the design, installation, integration, delivery and maintenance of Fire and Security systems.

New Sales & Operations Director, Richard Payne tells us why he is excited for the future of CFS.

What makes us different?

CFS was among the first in the industry to remove the emphasis placed on engineers to make additional and sometimes unnecessary sales in an attempt to drive profits, rewarding excellence in customer service instead. Many of our engineers are ‘multi-skilled’ and are able to resolve a wide range of complex issues. In addition, company vehicles are equipped with a multitude of spare parts and consumables. This approach is a huge success, and we are proud to quote the highest first time fix rate in our industry.

We operate under an ‘open access’ protocol for all our maintenance and servicing systems. This means that CFS customers are never tied to any specific brand of equipment.
